Wood Finishing / Spokane, WA

The wood decides the finish.

Pro Arkh Construction finishes real wood across Spokane and North Idaho. Deck and fence staining, timber beam ceilings, custom stairs, entry doors, and full cedar exteriors. Wood finishing is product knowledge as much as application: conversion varnish, lacquer, hard wax oil, and penetrating stains each belong on different surfaces in different conditions. We spec the finish to the wood, the exposure, and the use.

Interior beams and stairs take a different system than a south facing deck. We look at species, grain, existing finish, UV exposure, and moisture before anything gets specced. Exterior wood in the Inland Northwest takes hard UV in summer and freeze thaw all winter, so penetrating stains and film build products get chosen deliberately. Sand, clean, condition, finish. No shortcuts between those steps.

Where we do this work

Across Spokane and North Idaho.

Cedar and log home finishing in Coeur d'Alene.

Lakefront cedar and log exteriors are core work for us in Coeur d'Alene. Most lakefront cedar needs a refresh every three to five years, specced against UV load and lake side humidity. We finish a $2M lakefront restain to the same standard as a single deck.

Custom woodwork finishing in Liberty Lake.

Built-ins, stair systems, and cabinet grade woodwork in Liberty Lake homes get sprayed and hand finished to match existing millwork. Newer construction here often means matching factory finishes, which takes real color matching, not a close enough guess.

Deck and exterior wood in Nine Mile Falls.

River corridor homes in Nine Mile Falls and Suncrest carry a lot of exterior wood: decks, railings, and cedar accents that take full sun off the water. Penetrating stains with real UV resistance keep them from graying out in two seasons.

Wood Finishing FAQ

Common questions, straight answers.

What homeowners and property managers ask most before they book. If we missed yours, send us a note.

How much does deck staining cost in Spokane?

It depends on square footage, railing detail, and condition. A deck that needs stripping and sanding before stain prices higher than one that needs a wash and recoat. Written estimate after we see the deck, and it does not change after the fact.

How often should a deck or cedar siding be restained?

Every three to five years for most exterior wood in the Inland Northwest. South facing surfaces and lakefront exposure wear faster. The test is simple: when water stops beading on the surface, the stain is done protecting it.

What finishes do you use on interior wood?

Conversion varnish and lacquer for sprayed cabinet grade work, hard wax oil where a natural hand feel matters, and penetrating stains under clear coats for color. The product depends on the wood, the sheen, and how much wear the surface takes.

Can you match a new finish to existing woodwork?

Yes. Color matching to existing wood is standard scope. We build stain samples on the actual species and approve them with you in the room where the finish will live, not under shop lights.
